I know it's the Discovery Channel and I'm not usually a nature nut. That being said, this show is pure entertainment! Plus, you can pick up some key survival techniques *just* in case you find yourself left to your own devices in the middle of nowhere! It's got a hunky Brit star who's virtually drop-kicked into some precarious places (e.g., Amazon, Alaskan wilderness, Pacific Ocean, Grand Canyon) and left to find his way back to civilization. Of course, he has a couple camera men w/ him but nonetheless, he goes to some jaw-dropping lengths to survive and you get to watch it all from the comfort of your couch!

I'm really disappointed about this. Unfortunately, I definitely think it affects your appreciation and enjoyment for the show. However, I think it's still worth watching especially given the relative dearth of other viewing choices during the summer!
Nine West
That guy's insane. Straight up crazy. On the bright side, I now know how to escape from quicksand.
1i love this show too. a lot of people are give bear grylls a hard time because he's being helped on the show when he's suppose to be surviving on his own. who cares? bear stills does some crazy things like jumping into icy water.
2and yes, he's hot!
3A cpl of days ago I read that most of his "adventures" are staged and that he spends the nights at hotels

5bear was in the british SAS, let's not question his survival skills.
6not questioning his survival skills but rather, the misrepresentations on the show as to whether he's actually surviving his journeys unassisted. let's just say the show and bear certainly don't give the impression that he's sleeping in motels between takes or getting pre-fabricated boats to assemble "all by himself" in front of the camera. there are obviously camera men with him, but i'm sure most regular viewers would still be surprised to know bear doesn't even sleep outside some nights.
7afff love the show anyway!
8I love this show! It's one of my favorites and perfect summer watching!
I've heard about that controversy, but honestly don't mind. I don't want him or his crew to die, while making a television show!!! It's entertaining and he's still doing a lot of nasty stuff to show you how to survive.
Here's what Bear had to say on his blog:
